I’m Shadow. Nice to meet you. And where I live, we have bad weather and apocalyptic skies. (End Introduction.)

Wow, life is busy. between moving, working and conferences, I barely have time to eat! (And if I do it’s a safe chance it requires only 30 seconds in the microwave, I don’t have the time of day to cook a good meal.) Speaking of which, I need a Sandwich and a round of KDiZD…

Amarok Responsiveness Solved

Until now, I’ve always used the SQLLite backend for my library, but with my computer it just wasn’t giving me the speed I need, so I installed MySQL, and set that up and I’m pleased to say it works really fast. Almost all of my slowness problems have been solved, and it uses only about 10% CPU now. MySQL uses only about 3.1% of my memory, so it seems to be a really excellent tradeoff.

Wireless Router Troubles?

September 3, 2007 on 9:28 am | In Personal | By QBasicer | No Comments

I have a WRT54GL, and have installed DD-WRT. It works fine when I’m the only one using it, however, I’ve noticed in the past little bit, with a bunch of people using it, sometimes the connection randomly drops out, or all computers start to refuse to connect it (they want the key again), and even a hardwired connection refuses to connect proplerly. It works fine when I unplug it and plug it back in. I really don’t have anything that unusual going on, just a WPA2 connection, and I have the wireless power turned up to 70dB. It seems to be better now that I switched to channel 3 from 9, and moved from WPA to WPA2 (Some windows computers had a hard time with WPA2).
